Accreditation

COCC is a member of the regional accrediting organization known as the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU or the Commission for short). All members of the Commission submit regular annual reports that briefly note any major changes, as well as a more developed Interim Report every 5 years and a Comprehensive Self Study Report every 10 years: these major reports are reviewed following  a visit of Commission-appointed evaluators. Our last Comprehensive Self Study Report was submitted in 2002, and we received several commendations as well as recommendations. We addressed our progress on these recommendations in a Focused Visit Report and evaluator visit in 2004. The regularly scheduled Interim Report and visit was in 2007. 

The Interim visit resulted in several recommendations for advancement in instructional assessment, which will be reviewed in a Focused Visit Report and evaluator visit in 2009.  In preparation for that visit, we are currently involved in expanding course assessment efforts and piloting program and General Education Outcomes assessment projects across the curriculum.
